There are many ways to get involved in prevention violence and helping to support those impacted.
SAVES is an inclusive group of students of all genders that work towards ending violence on campus. The mission of SAVES at VCU is to assist in prevention and offer support to those affected by sexual violence, intimate partner violence, sexual harassment, and stalking. We do this through promoting awareness, hosting educational events, and campaigns.
Within SAVES we have two types of volunteers, Tier 1 and Tier 2*:
- Tier 1 volunteers help with event support/planning, presentations in SAVES meetings, and administrative support
- Tier 2 volunteers can complete all tier 1 tasks as well as community education through public presentations
*Tier 2 volunteers are required to attend one of our eight hour training sessions that are provided each semester
All volunteers are asked to complete the SAVES application and will be contacted to set up an interview with an executive board member once the application is completed.
MAV (Men Against Violence)
MAV is an inclusive organization that connects male-identified students who promote healthy masculinity through dialogue, leadership, and action. MAV seeks to eradicate power-based violence that includes sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and stalking.
